Your Guide to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

It is beginning to look like Christmas!!! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is here and we could not be more excited. Before we start going into all the fun and exciting activities you can do, we will give you a brief summary of what Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a special ticketed event that takes place at the Magic Kingdom between the hours of 7 pm and 12 pm, however if you have a ticket to the event you can get into the park at 4 pm. Please note that for guest using a regular Magic Kingdom ticket on these day will have to exit the park at 6 pm. for the party.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2018 Dates:

November 8, 9, 12, 13, 15, 16, 25, 27, 29, 30

December 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21

The price of tickets range from $95 to $125 for adults and $90 to $120 for children.

A quick pro tip if you are trying to decide between which night you want to attend, purchasing the ticket that is listed at the lower price is your best bet. Not only do you save money but the general rule of thumb is the lower the price the less crowded the night will be.

Before the Party

Before you even leave for the party, make sure to check the weather. Yes it is winter, but it is also Florida and the temperatures can still be 80 degrees, especially in November. That being said the temperatures can also drop into the low 60s. Make sure to dress for the weather.

First Arriving at the Party

If you do not have a day ticket and are entering the park with a Very Merry ticket we recommend arriving at 4 pm. This ensures you can have the most time in the park, and do what you want before the party starts so you do not have to waste party time doing non party activities. When party guest first arrive, they can go through the backside of mainstreet. This is where you can pick up cookies, get special photo opportunities, and pick up an event guide detailing where all the treat trails are, when the events are, and where the party exclusive character meet and greets are.

Special Events

The party kicks off with Elsa using her powers to light up the castle in A Frozen Holiday Wish. this event takes place at 6:15 pm, and 8:15 pm. If you, or anyone in your family, is a fan of Anna and Elsa than this show is a must see. Even if you are not a fan of the Frozen characters, we still highly recommend seeing the show because it is truly magical seeing the castle come to life with glowing ice crystals. If you plan to spend another day in Magic Kingdom you might consider skipping this event because they perform this show on regular days at the park and skipping it will allow you to do more things that are exclusive to the Christmas party.

Next we will talk about Mickey’s Most Merry Celebration. This event takes place at 7:40 pm, 9:25 pm, 10:30 pm, and 11:55 pm. In this event Mickey and Minnie host a holiday party, and invite all their Disney pals. This event has holiday tunes, and plenty of Disney characters. A quick pro tip is to get a good spot for the show at 10:30 pm, then you have a spot for Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade.

Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade takes place at 8:30 pm and again at 11:00 pm. Christmas music, falling snow, and Disney characters, what could be better? On top of that they are accompanied by reindeer, toy soldiers, gingerbread men, and the man of the hour, Santa Claus. This parade is sure to get you in the holiday spirit, and we highly recommend getting a spot to see it on Mainstreet so you can experience the falling snow that makes the parade truly magical.

Finally we will talk about the Holiday Wishes: Celebrate the Spirit of the Season Fireworks. This firework show has a festive flare. It is a special version of the Wishes firework show set to Christmas music with 360 degrees fireworks line the Magic Kingdom perimeter. This show is a must see and will make somebody who is there for their first time, or 100th time, leave awestruck.

The stage show, parade, and the fireworks is just the tip of the snowflake when it comes to activities. Additional activities include treat trails where you can get cookies, hot chocolate, and more, character dance parties, special character meet and greets in Christmas attire, and more.

Christmas Cookie Trails

If you have been to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party, then you know all about the trick-or-treat trails (If not check out our Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party blog). Dance Party

Burn off some energy and dance your heart out at Club Teinsel. This party happens throughout the whole Christmas Party at Cosmic Ray’s in Tomorrowland. If you love hanging out with characters, then this is a fun way to interact with them, however, they will not be signing autographs.

Also new to this year's party is The Disney Junior Jamboree. This will be located in Storybook Circus. Disney Junior characters including Vamporieena will be dancing all night. This is perfect to take your little ones to burn off some energy.

Tomorrowland Christmas Party

Not too far away from Club Tinsel is the Totally Tomorrowland Christmas Show. This show takes place at the Rockettower Plaza stage between Space Mountain and the Carousel of Progress at 7:45 pm, 8:35 pm, 9:25 pm, 10:45 pm, and 11:35 pm. This is a funny show that lasts about 20 minutes, and has some of your favorite characters including Stitch, Buzz Lightyear, and others singing Disneyfied versions of Christmas songs. When the Totally Tomorrowland Christmas Show is not going on, Voiceplay will be performing on the Rockettower Plaza. This acapella singing group performs Holiday Medleys at 8:10 pm, 9:00 pm, 10:20 pm, 11:10 pm.

Special Meet and Greets

Now we are going to talk about one of our favorite parts of the party, the character meet and greets. This is a great time to meet rare characters that do not come out during normal park hours, like all 7 dwarfs and Santa Goofy.

Characters at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

Main Street U.S.A.

Santa Claus will be taking Christmas wishes all night. He will be located near the front of the park between Main Street Chamber of Commerce and City Hall.

Mickey Mouse can be found at Town Square theater where he meets day guest, but during the christmas party you will find him in a festive holiday outfit.

Jack Skellington as Sandy Claus is joined by Sally and they will be located in Town Square Theater where Tinkerbell meets guest during the day.

Frontierland

Country Bears will be out near the Country Bears Jamboree, though this is not an official meet and greet, it is fun to interact with these characters.

Fantasyland

Ariel and Prince Eric can be found right outside of A voyage of the Little Mermaid and Ariel is in her green ball gown for this meet and greet.

Rapunzel and Flynn, Tiana and Naveen can be found on one side Princess Fairytale hall. On the other side of Princess Fairytale hall you have the chance to meet Cinderella and Prince Charming as well as Elena of Avalor.

Belle can be found meeting guest in her blue dress right outside of Bonjour gifts.

Pooh is accompanied by three of his friends: Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet in their winter scarfs.

Seven Dwarfs is one of the most popular meet and greets. If you want to meet them make sure to line up early. The Dwarfs can be found at Pete’s Silly Sideshow.

Snow White and the Prince, Aurora and Prince Philip, will be waiting to meet guest by the castle wall.

Minnie Mouse and Daisy have a special meet and greet in their Christmas dresses by the train depot in StoryBook circus.

Scrooge McDuck and Donald will greet guest by Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station in StoryBook circus.

Santa Goofy will be bringing holiday cheer at his meet and greet located by The Barnstormer.

Mary Poppins and Bert will be celebrating a jolly holiday right outside Mickey’s PhilharMagic.

Tomorrowland

Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps will be meeting guest in Tomorrowland.

We do have to take a moment here and talk about characters. If you have plans on meeting characters, especially rare characters, get in line early. We mean early as in before the party officially starts. We have seen lines for some characters like Sandy Clause and the seven dwarfs get two or even three hours long. So quick pro tip if meeting some of these rare characters are at the top of your list, then get in line before the party starts.

Attractions open during MVMCP

Do not think shows, food, and characters is all there is to do during the party. The Magic Kingdom still has plenty of attractions open during the party. If you love rides, but do not like lines, than the Christmas Party is for you. The party is a great time to ride a lot of rides with very little wait since Disney sells a limited number of Party tickets.

MVMCP Dessert Parties

If you want complementary desserts and a great view of the fireworks, then the Fireworks Holiday Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace is for you. The dessert party is an additional charge of $84 for adults and $50 for children on top of your Mickey’s Very Merry ticket. What you get with this dessert party is a dessert and non-alcoholic drink buffet and a view of the fireworks, however it does not include parade viewing.

New to the Christmas Party in 2018 is Tony’s Most Merriest Town Square Party. It is the same basic idea as the firework dessert party, except they have a space for you at Tony’s Town Square and it is reserved parade viewing. They also offer complimentary appetizers, desserts, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages. The cost for this is $99 plus the cost of your party ticket. The really neat part of this event is that it extends until 12:30, so you get a 30 minutes in the park after the party ends.

Shopping

We also recommend stopping into the stores for special merchandise during the party to see exclusive apparel, pins and merchandise. Also make sure to pick up your exclusive sorcerer's of the Magic Kingdom card. This card is only available for free to park goers. Whether or not you play, it is definitely worth picking up and is a fun free souvenir. Their is so much to do at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, it is impossible to see every show, ride every ride, meet every character, and eat a lot of treats. We recommend creating a plan of action so you can get the most out of your night. However what good is a great experience like this without photos to look back on. Disney has you covered on that front as well. Make sure to stop by the many photo opportunities and get your picture taken by a photopass photographer.
